Five students have received national recognition for their work in the Scholastic Art and Writing Competition, the most prestigious high school art and writing competition in the country.
- Emily Buehler ’20 won a gold medal for her painting, Pigs and Fly.
- Maria Metzger ’19 won a gold medal and an American Visions Medal for her photograph, What’re You Lookin’ At?
Gold medal winners are invited to the awards ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York City this spring.
- Rosa Bieber-Stanley ’21 won a silver medal for her essay, “Moon Stalker: The Poet of Death.”
- Megan Holzrichter ’19 won a silver medal for her art portfolio, Untold and Incomplete Stories of China.
- Carolyn Wang ’19 won a silver medal for her painting, Tenacity.
Previous winners include such visionaries as Andy Warhol, Truman Capote, Richard Avedon, Philip Pearlstein, Sylvia Plath, and John Updike.
